Getting to Know The Author

January 19, 2018

Hello everyone!

I thought for the end of the week, I'd tell you a little more about myself than you see on my author website.

As most of you know, I an RN by trade. I have been an RN for 18 years in May, that boggles my mind. I began my career in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Newborn Nursery. I transitioned in 2006 to public health and have been building additional skills in this setting every since - skills that have helped me with my writing.

I did not always enjoy writing. My real adventure into writing began in late 2015 as I started my book, The Road Less Traveled: A Story of Love, Pain, Hope and Everything In-Between. I briefly blogged while married but stopped because of everything going on in that relationship. I picked blogging up again in 2016 and have never stopped. I love it! I see a great purpose in my writing now and I intend to pursue it for the rest of my life. I also have several other writing project in mind - one of them I will be starting on this weekend. It is an allegory I wrote in highschool. I want to get it in electronic form and rework it for adult audiences. My goal is to publish it and two other books as well.

I have been married once to the man I have written about many times in my blogs and who is the subject of a large part of my book. I hope to be married again some day but I can assure you the situation will be very different.

I enjoy the company of cats. I find their nature of independence very refreshing and they make very good companions. They are playful, direct in their moods and very loving. My kitten's name is Inky P. My tattoo artist and friend, Brian,  named her and the name is fitting.

I also enjoy the company of friends, shopping, travel, movies, the arts, reading and of course writing. I have several destinations planned over the coming years with friends and will most certainly be enjoying all of them. I will most likely write about my experiences as well. I am also a tattoo connoisseur, if you will, and enjoy the art of it all!

Both myself and my immediate family live in the Oklahoma City area. It has changed quite a bit since I was a teenager. I like the city with all of its traffic, fast pace, lights and plethora of activity. Being close to city life is definitely a must for me!

I will close by telling you some of the things closest to my heart:

1) The children of Sudan and Uganda - I hope to travel there one day and work with them and meet many of them. They have been ravaged by too much war and too much evil.

2) Helping women, men and children trapped in sex or domestic trafficking, I not only want to see them set free - I want to help them build a new life and live free!

3) I want to use my story, my blogs, my books and my faith to stem the tide of violence and abuse against women and children and see both survivors and abusers set free and live free by the power of Jesus Christ - He is the only one who can do this.

I hope you have enjoyed getting to know me a little better. As always, feel free to start a conversation.

Until next time,

Elizabeth
