Fear is a Liar

August 31, 2018

Hello everyone!

I want to start your weekend off right by telling you that fear is a liar. Fear will lie about you, it will lie about others, it will lie about your job, your home, your car, you money, your emotions, your relationships, your abilities and the list goes on. Have you heard the acronym F.E.A.R? F.E.A.R. stands for False Evidence Appearing Real and that is exactly what fear is and that is exactly how it controls you! What is false evidence? A lie!

Fear uses our imaginations and our circumstances to write a story for us that has no basis in reality. Fear looks at the worst in us and in humanity and then tries to tell us nothing will ever change; that is “just the way we are” or “just the way they are.” Fear tells us we can’t do things or that we don’t matter or that we have no voice. Fear may even try to convince us that we are someone different than who we really are! Fear destroys trust. Fear enables evil. Fear pushes out love. Fear can kill you emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually; just ask a survivor of domestic violence. Entire governments have used fear and its effects on personal identity to control and brainwash millions.

I have a dear friend who let go of all fear in her life recently. In fact, she inspired this blog! She got rid of anything that was speaking fear over her life; anything she said, read, heard, looked at on social media, anything at all that brought fearful thoughts. I have seen such a difference in her in such a short time. She no longer accepts things that tell her anything but the truth about who she is. She no longer accepts fear’s labels. She is free! I can’t wait to see what God does next in her life!

This may be hard to believe but I struggled with my own fear for years! I was afraid of what others thought of me. I was afraid of stepping out of my comfort zone. I was afraid in the abusive marriage I was in for 3 years. I was afraid God might ask me to do something hard or something I did not want to do for most of my life. That is too much fear for too long ladies and gentlemen! I can promise you it never benefited me! I have spent the last 4 years letting go of fear and destroying its hold in my life and in my mind. I am no longer afraid to go where God would have be go, do what God would have me do or say what God would have me say. I am no longer afraid of abuse, I will confront it head on when I see it playing out in other’s lives. I am no longer afraid of what anyone else thinks! I have been stepping out of my comfort zone for the last two years and I will continue to do so.

I want to close today by asking you some questions.

Who were you before you let fear take control of your life? Do you want to be the person without fear? If you want that person back, you have to face your fear head on. You have to stop listening, seeing, hearing and living by “false evidence appearing real”, in other words you have to stop believing lies. You have to start believing the truth about yourself and who God says you are. In doing so, you defeat fear. You move from fear into strength. You rewrite your story. You rewrite the tapes in your head. You change the direction of your life! My friend chose to do this and I chose to do this, so you can too!

It’s time to punch fear in the face! It is time to be free! It is time to put fear under our feet!

Free from all fear,

Elizabeth
