God's Got This
It would seem our world is spinning out of control, if you focus only on the events of the past year. I have been thinking and praying about these events for awhile now.
We have a presidential election that is a joke no matter what spin you put on it. We have ISIS, Russia and North Korea to name a few of the uncertainties we face as a nation. This year's events alone in our own country have been sad and give us cause to ask three questions; God where are you? Do You care? God, what do you think of all of this?
I have answers to your questions. God is still here. He knows exactly what has happened and what is going to happen and you know what – He is not worried or scared. He is not pacing or cursing and He is not planning His next political move - He's not a politician. He is not going to lose control of the universe. He is still God and He does care!
He is not causing these things to happen. In fact, they make Him very sad. However, He gives mankind free will but mankind does not always use free will to make good choices. Yet, He is still there, He is still compassionate, He is still loving! In fact, He is patient with us (our world today), not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9, NIV, paraphrased). This is the heart of God – for everyone on this planet!!
Does this mean that God will step in and fix all of our world’s problems? No. If He did that, what happens to free will? Does this mean mankind won’t make bad decisions? No. Does this mean that war is ending in our world? No. In fact Jesus said in Matthew 24:6-8 (NIV): “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.” In other words Jesus and God the Father were already aware of these events. They saw the events of this age before time began – they knew what man’s choices would be. Yet, They still have the same heart towards mankind that they did before time began; to know us and to be in relationships with us.
Don’t be afraid! I would also ask that you not be surprised either. God is accomplishing His Will in the earth. I don’t know what is coming in the future but I know who holds the future – God does and He will take care of me and you!
He is watching over His Word to perform it and it will not come back empty but will accomplish that for which He sent it (Isaiah 55:11, NIV, paraphrased). Trust Him!
Until next time,
