Writing An Allegory

Hello everyone!

I wanted to take today's blog to tell you a little bit about my new story, The Great Journey, or so I am calling it now. This is a new allegory I am writing about the triumph of good over evil. If you have never read an allegory, an allegory uses a fantasy and/or magical world to highlight spiritual truths. I won't be giving too much away but I will be updating all of you both here on my blog and on my FB page and Twitter accounts: https://www.facebook.com/trltbyelizabethbillingsley

I started this story over 20 years ago and life got in the way. I am currently adding to it and building the story and the characters. I will introduce my characters right at or close to publishing time. Speaking of publishing, I hope to have that process started later this year. C.S. Lewis and his stories of Narnia are my inspiration for this story. Yes, I have read all of The Chronicles of Narnia! However, my story will be unlike his Narnia chronicles in many ways. My story will have both midevil and fantasy themes tied into the allegory. I also plan to market it to teens and adults instead of children. I am very excited to finally get to finish this story!

My hope in writing this allegory is not only to tell a good story but to allow people to see that evil never wins, no matter how hard it tries and no matter how it would seem it has the upper hand at times. A light always shines into the darkness and the darkness does not overcome it (John 1:5 paraphrased).

I am very excited about the lives this story will touch as well! I thank God everyday for this opportunity and ability to write. I want to thank all of you for reading and following my work, I couldn't do this without you!

Until next time,

Elizabeth
