In Our Brokeness, We Find Ourselves

Hello everyone!

I thought the clay pot was relevant for today's blog.

Did you notice how the pot is being slowly put back together? Yes there are cracks but they will disappear.  When we are broken and we allow God to put us back together, slowly but surely (trust me we could not handle it all at once), not only are we more whole but we find ourselves again.

I believe as we are broken down by life's uncontrollable circumstances, situations and the choices we make, we lose ourselves. We become something we are not. We try to fit into a mold we were never intended to fill. We do alot of people-pleasing. The only things we get in return for these efforts are brokeness and emptiness. Yet it is in our brokeness and emptiness that Jesus can work His best work!

Brokeness is not a permanent state, unless you want it to be. Emptiness is not a permanent state, unless you want it to be.

Not knowing who you are and being lost in your circumstances or choices is not a permanent state, unless you want it to be.

Why do I make such concrete statements? I was there. I was broken, emply and lost. I did not know who I was anymore. I had to be rebuilt by Jesus so to speak. I had to find myself again. I can speak to this quite candidly. I came from an abusive marriage with a very confused and mentally ill spouse who needed rebuilt himself. He, unfortunately, did not allow Jesus to rebuild him, at least not on this side of Heaven.

I want to encourage all of you to let Jesus rebuild you. Let him see the broken, empty, lost places so they can be made whole again. Let Him help you find yourself again. He is the Master physician and counselor. There is nothing He can't handle and there is nothing He can't already see. He is also not ashamed of you, even if you are ashamed of yourself. He will not turn away from you, you are not ugly to Him. You are not without hope. You are beautiful to him because He sees what you can become, your potential. He sees who you really are, not what your circumstances or others have told you that you are.

Choose today to let the Master Potter repair your broken vessel. He is gentle and kind and His repair work is permanent, I assure you.  He can help you find the real you that you lost long ago. And when you find you, you won't lose you again. Let His light shine in the dark places and bring light to your soul and light to your life.

Matthew 11:28-29, the words of Jesus;

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened , and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation]. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me[following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for your souls.

John 8:12; When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

Walking in His light and my true self,

Elizabeth
