Rejection, the Root of Much Pain and the Beginning of Many Lies

Hello everyone!

I want to finish this week’s theme about lies, pain and healing with an article about rejection – one of the roots of pain. Rejection is common all over the world in human interaction, from the woman that rejects a man’s marriage proposal to someone rejecting us as a friend. We see rejection play out a lot in children – the child who is always left out of the game, or left out of activities, or never invited to the party. Unfortunately, what plays out in childhood can follow us into adulthood and leave many scares, emotional pain, and fuel lies. All of these assaults on the human soul require healing.

Rejection is one of the most detrimental and dangerous assaults against the human soul. Rejection creates a vacuum in the soul and lies rush into the empty space left by being unwanted. Some lies a rejected person may hear are: “you aren’t good enough” (this was a lie I believed), “everyone else will be like him/her” (this was a lie I believed), “you might as well not believe in people or in love” (this is a lie I believed), “you might as well get love where you can get love, no matter the cost”, “you might as well die” and the list goes on. Do you see the danger in these lies? They will cause people to do things that will hurt them or end their lives. Rejection hurts in more ways than one.

However, there is One who never rejects us when we cry out to Him. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother and he is the answer to the hurt and pain caused by any rejection you may have faced in this life. His name is Jesus Christ. When we come to him, he loves us unconditionally and takes us as his own. We become children of God and are sons and daughters of God!

Call to him today! He will meet you right where you are. He will meet you in all of your pain and in the ugliness that sometimes life hands us. He is not afraid of you or your pain and he will not reject you – no matter what you have or have not done. He is waiting to heal you and show you how much he truly loves you. He always has loved you, you just didn’t know it. You will always belong with him and to him as his child. He can trade the lies from your rejection for his truth about you. Will you give him a chance to do that? He has done this for me and he will surely do this for you!

I will leave you with some verses today to ponder about the love and care of Jesus. May they bring you hope and light in dark places:

Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV; Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them (b/c they rejected you), for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Psalm 147:3 NIV; He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds

Psalm 145:18; The LORD is near to all who call on him…

Psalm 120:1; I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me.

John 15:13, 14a, 15 NIV; Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. “You are My friends….“No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.

Proverbs 18:24b NIV...there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Love,

Elizabeth
